Family Constellations are well known amongst those searching for meaning in life and those who are on the path to find ones true self as a most effective tool to uncover the root-cause of all kinds of suffering: a disease, a repeated negative pattern, emotions of hate, resentments, anger and fear, with the ultimate goal to gain more freedom and happiness for oneself and for the loved ones.
But this groundbreaking healing modality has not yet made it to the awareness of the majority of people, simply because it’s not taught in school, not talked about on mainstream media nor integrated as a standard practice into government aproved coaching sessions.
Now that is about to change!
A new popular Netflix series called ‘Another Self’ is drawing the attention of many million people to the work of Bert Hellinger, without even mentioning his name nor using the terminology we inherited from him. It is the same work, here called ‘root work’ or ‘expanding the origin family’, translated from Turkish language into English and German. With this ‘expansion’ or ‘root work’ the inventor of the series Another Self describes how traumas can be revealed from the ancestors and healed by bringing together what has been separated and who has been left out of the family system up to 7 generations back.
The plot is about 3 friends in their thirties with their problems and sufferings: one has cancer, the other woman has relationship problems, and the third faces the end of her career as a surgeon due to a tremor in the hands. The three friends go to a seaside town in Turkey led by the woman with cancer in search for her last chance to get well and overcome the deadly illness. There she takes part in a group session where she learns to work through unresolved trauma connected to her families past and reveal the spiritual cause of her suffering with ‘expansion of the origin family’ aka Family Constellation. To cut a long story short (and to not give the end of the story away for those who haven’t watched it yet), against the resistance of one of the friends they continue to do the ‘root work’ and participate in the family constellation workshops facilitated quite closely to the original teachings of Bert Hellinger. As a result, they all face dramatic changes in their lives, even for the one who didn’t belief in the work. Mother related issues are uprising in the wake of this work as they always do when one embarks on this path of healing the family wound through family constellations, which is well dramaturgically illustrated in ‘Another Self’.
In 2021 has already aired a Netflix documentary featuring Family Constellations: ‘Sex, Love & Goop’. A real life family constellation facilitator demonstrates in episode 5 with a couple how a family constellation works by using the original terminology translated from German. Here they are using the word ‘field’ for the morphogenetic field, and ‘resonators’ for the representatives. But the work is the same: Family Constellations.
It is wonderful to see how after over 40 years the amazing healing method of Bert Hellinger gets the mainstream focus it deserves, either under the terminology ‘root work’, ‘expanding the origin family’, ‘systemic constellation’ or Family Constellation. It is all one and the same, works in the same way to reduce suffering for individuals and brings more love and light to the family systems and the world at large.
We are on the right track!
